My RR hen turns 1 year in Sept. I got her at 1 day old. A couple of months ago she turned aggressive to me and its horrible. She charges and draws blood without backing off. My buff Orpington same age gentle. I am literally ready to dispense of my RR. I stay bloody. I have held her, treats, spend time with both everyday since day 1. Let them free range No help. I can.t take much more. What happened.

She regards you as an equal and is trying to subordinate you. You must show her that you are dominant. You're bigger, and can do this. Wear work gloves and a long sleeved shirt. When she comes at you force her firmly to the ground, and hold her there with both hands until she stops struggling. Upon release she may come at you again repeat the process until she gives up. Generally hens are far more easy to 'readjust' than roosters. Do not kick at or swat at her as this only reinforces her instinct to fight you. You can do this. Good luck.

I tried the holding thing, then after a long time the swatting thing out of frustration. Did not know about holding her down. I will try that. Her last chance. Still clueless about why she turned on me as I spoil them rotten.

Your last 4 words say it all. "I spoil them rotten". Generally this is not a problem with hens, but every now and then one gets the idea, "I am her equal, and I want to dominate her". She is including you in her social structure (the pecking order) and wants to subordinate you. Your job now is to assure her that she is your subordinate. Sometimes scooping them up in a short handled fishing net accomplishes the same result, but they may still attack if you do not have the net with you.
