I can not hold my excitement so I just HAD to post!!!
Today is day 24 of incubating the duck eggs! I just candled them and they are moving into hatching position! Tomorrow is lock down day!!!
This is my first time hatching duck eggs and raising ducks! Our friend gave us some of her eggs to incubate. She has all different breeds so we should have quite the assortment. We started off with 12 but some of them were infertile, so now we have 5 that seem to be doing well!
You know what they best part is?! My birthday is on the 14th! So if I'm lucky they will hopefully be pipped by then. I keep telling everyone that the best gift would be if they hatched on my birthday!!!
I have had and bred chickens for years and once had a few guineas, but never ducks! We had an extra coop out back so I figured, Why not? I've always wanted a few ducks.
Let me tell you, I have been necrotic about these eggs! I go in and mist them twice a day, and check on the humidity and temp. I've also been candling them 3x a week to make sure that they're developing properly. So today is the last day that I can candle them since tomorrow is lockdown! I already have everything for the brooder too!
Oh my, I just can't wait!!!
Let me know if you guys want updates!
