I found some instructions saying to mist the(quail) eggs with water to raise the humidity, which I did, and it raised the humidity, but when I thought about it, I thought maybe I coulda killed the eggs! Can you mist the eggs very lightly with no damage done?
Thanks for any help!

I don't mist the eggs at all. I am incubating for the first time and I never heard of misting eggs before. Your eggs should be fine unless the water was cold or hot but it might be good to stop. I hope you will have a great hatch!

Yes, you can mist eggs. I do it a lot when I have staggered hatches to bring the humidity back up quickly when I need to get in the bator.
