Ok, it’s hard to tell through the screen but I’m extremely hyper right now!!! I have fallen in LOVE with polish/silkies and I really want one. There’s my problem—I can only have one (or maybe two)... for now... whoooaah there nelly, I’m getting ahead of myself! Fast backwards!

Life, Dutchy the d’uccle died (sorry to those of you who have heard about this a MILLION times!) on Wednesday night
and now I’m only down to 6 birds. But three, no four, of them might be boys... curse you straight run!!!!!!!!!!! That would really suck because we were hoping for at least 4, if not 5 hens in the end. We’ll know better about gender in 2 weeks.... but still we want replacements! We have the room for for sure one more (18 s.f. coop and 40 s.f. Run) if we are going with the 3-4 s.f per bird inside and 8-10 s.f. per bird outside. For 4 birds each would have 4 s.f. Inside and 10 out and for 5 birds, 3.5 inside and 8 out. Am I all wrong on this? But this is all very confusing for who’s gonna be what gender... ahhh!!! Anyways I’m wondering could I integrate a single (but possibly two) crested birds into a 5-6 weeks old flock? The new ones would hopefully be about the same age. And should I do polish or Silkie or both? Anything else to add?
