Hi I'm incubating some eggs which have been fertilised by our rooster. I have candled the eggs and we are on day 13. In one of the eggs the air sac is on the side of the egg and not in the top pointy end. Is this going to be a problem for the growing chick and hatching?. The chick is growing and moving at the moment. I will attach a picture of the candled egg.
Thanks for any help

Thanks for replying. The air cell looks stable and is not moving also the egg is on day 15 and the chick is moving. Any advice as to how to help the egg hatch appreciated. Thanks

What happened? I remember running into this years ago and I recall I hatched a little pullet that is still alive and well and 7 I believe. But I vaguely remember assisting a bit. But her air cell was completely on the side of the egg.

I have one occasionally. I think it's a particular chocolate silkie hen. Sometimes they hatch themselves. If the others have hatched and not that one, then I assist it out. I waited too long once as it died. In the future, I'll poke breathing holes in theirs if they are not pipped with the rest of them.
