I live in Fairbanks Alaska and during the winter we regularly get -45F. My question is should I have heating inside of the coop in that severe temperature? We will have extra insulation on the design.

I live 4 miles up Hatcher pass from Willow we get cold here too , last year kept 17 birds in the coop with 2 heat lamps an deep litter ,on the floor its a 8x8 converted shed, I did put vents in the back 4x6 inch screen coverd an they where open all winter,my birds came threw with just minor frostbite . the coop is not insulated , so yes heat is a good thing
