Upon finding wiggling worms in a cecal poop from Dove, I need to get some dewormer for my 5 chickens.

The price for a full bottle of albendazole is steep but I prefer to start with it because one dose seems much easier than a 5 day course and also the possible feather issues with fenbendazole. Could I even use it all before it goes bad?

I found this online and like the elector psp I ordered from Chicken chick it is sold in smaller bottles.

Has anyone used this company or have any experience with another company who sells smaller amounts of these treatments?

Would you buy from them?

Does anyone have similar sources to share that they trust?

I would probably buy from them but using a credit card that has purchase protection along with a low credit.

I keep a card just for "sketchy" purchases, that way if it ends up being something odd, I can quickly cancel/call the cc company and the shop doesn't have access to any bank cards, etc.

Or you could use paypal or similar which offers buyer protection.

Some folks are buying from here, but it's only sold in the 500ml bottle and much more expensive.

Ugh, I see they went up in price for the 500ml bottle. It was about $20 cheaper per bottle just a few months ago. Glad I bought two bottles back then.

Thanks.
I am probably going to do it today. They remind me of the sources that I used to carefully use on ebay for cat and dog flea meds until ebay took all that down.

I have had fixed and cared for many feral cats and these places that sell fish antibiotics and other compounds have saved lives. I still get my lufenuron/nitenpyram capsules from a company that used to do it on ebay and it works better for my inside and outside pets than any of the expensive treatments OTC or from the vets. Fleas here in this part of Florida are not playing around! I am not far from your location in your profile BTW.

As I am unable to edit my comments, I just figured out that I mixed up the locations of dawg53 and Wyorp Rock and meant that I am close to dawg53's location.

I ordered 4 ounces of the albendazole last night after work and after a stressful time with Dove's first egg. She was so uncomfortable all day and finally laid a thin shelled egg that was rough like sand paper.

I hope deworming can help her get back to her normal loud self. She was quiet all day. So unusual.

Oh, I thought you meant Dawg anyway LOL

I'm glad you have the dewormer on the way, let us know if you get and how satisfied you are with the company.

Dove was having a hard time with her first egg? Sometimes the first few can be glitchy, but if she's really struggling with the next, I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 to see if that helps. It seems to work fairly quickly and help a pullet/hen expel eggs or material.

I hope she's feeling better soon.

The albendazole should be here today. I will definitely let you know.

Dove has been at the calcium dish a lot and I did worry that she was getting too much. Then the egg came out very thin shelled after she was looking very uncomfortable for a few hours. I just gently massaged her tummy every few hours and after the last massage she laid the egg in the run right after.

I had accidentally posted all about the ordeal with pictures in the wrong thread instead of the "How many eggs" thread and deleted that yesterday when I noticed. My posts were all over the place that day. lol

After getting off work and seeing Dove like that, the possible SCC on her knee, the fact that she has enough worms to show up in poop, the thin shelled egg, and my evening med, I have had a major malfunction with posting.🧐

She spent some time in the nest box after Big Red yesterday, but I never saw an egg. Hopefully today will be a good egg if someone isn't eating them because they would be easy to peck open if like the first.

Thanks for the advice about the calcium D tablets I have them and crushed and offered one to her yesterday but will probably just pill her if it happens again.

Darn it! UPS has delayed my order after receiving it from the seller yesterday.

I found this egg on the coop floor from Dove this morning. Soft shell and broken.😮‍💨

I gave her half of a tablet of the calcium+D I have included a photo of. It was the closest I could find to some links that I found on this forum when I was reading up a while back. It is just a lot so I do half. I could use these occasionally for myself anyway. Osteoporosis here...

Dove proceeded to spend a lot of time fussing in the nest box today but she gets bothered by the other 2 pullets that are not laying.

Scaley is sooo interested in the nest boxes and laying hens and wants to lay with them or in front of them. She doesn't even have a red comb yet and is unfortunately the latest bloomer. She goes in the box with Dove and Dove leaves.

The Nuzzler has a very red comb and is very interested as well. She doesn't squat much like the others but talks to the golf balls like Dove did. She stands in front of the nesting area and trills and growls the whole time. Whatever sounds these are. These are my first chickens, and at least 3 different breeds so I am getting used to all the weird sounds.

I'd give her a whole tablet. One of those is 315mg, I know the front says 630mg but the "serving/dosing" on the back is for 2 tablets which would equal 630.

Give her one of those tablets daily for a week, see if her shell quality improves.

BTW, yes...those are the tablets/brand I have on hand for my hens. I don't have to use them often, but Calcium is one thing I keep on hand.

I swear I read that about the serving when I bought them and forgot by the time I opened the bottle a month later.

I broke one into fourths today and gave 2 pieces and she is hard to pill. Maybe one large pill will go down easier though. Tiny Ameraucana type wattles are not easy to grasp and she is clean faced so I gotta just pry the beak open. Lol
At least she didn't scream like she did when I opened her beak to give a b complex before. She sticks her head in my shirt and nuzzles in to avoid a beak violation. It is adorable and difficult.
