I am having a terrible time keeping my waterers algae free in the heat of the summer. I have read that putting a tsp of cholrine bleach for each gallon of water will help but I wasn't sure how to tell the concentration of the bleach to know if I should put less than that.

Does anyone add chlorine bleach to the water for their chickens to keep algae and slime growth down?

I know that not everyone is going to run out and buy Oxine though, so here's a link that I found for bleach to water.

Where do you find Oxine? I read the article and that sounds like a great solution for me - I like the idea of keeping everything under the "approved organic" list

If you can keep the water completely out of the sun you should not have problems with algae at least i don't.
