my fiancee Darcy and I have recently hatched 8 narraganset turkey poults. 2 of them are all blond except for a small area of feathers between their wings. has anyone ever seen this? the poults look like a totally different breed of heritage bird. I would love to hear from anyone who might have some insight on this.

The blond turkeys kind of sound like Royal Palms. How sure are you that all eggs are Narragansett? I'm not a breeder yet but I have seen a lot of poults here and there and the only yellow I've seen with black on them were Royal Palms. I've not seen Whites or Midget Whites but I don't think they'd have dark spots. If you bought from a breeder of both Narrs and RPs it's possible some eggs were switched by mistake.

Pictures would be helpful. It would not be a totally different breed but a different color. Narr's and golden narrs look the same at hatch. It also depends what all the narrs have in them as far as recessive color genes. You could breeed 2 first generation narrs and get one of the colors that their parents were. Sounds as if the poults could be burbon reds if its a rust color on them. RP's are totally yellow at hatch.

I have uploaded a pic of 1 of the blond or yellow poults hatched from narragansett pair. Could 1 of the mating pair had a mother or father that was a RP?

our tom is very friendly. we have never had a problem with him being agressive with us.We have had several people ask if our tom is mean. Has anyone out there had a problem with mean toms?

That is a RP poult. Yes, it is a recessive RP jean popping up. Most Toms are pretty non aggressive but they can be raelly bad sometimes. Those are the ones that get to be the guest of honor at the dinner table!
