All chickens killed but one escaped. Heartbroken.

Can't totally agree with you. The neighbor's hunting dog which was bad about running away . Also killing chickens. He killed 8 of my laying hens one Sunday while we were at church. He ate the egg sac of two and the rest he just killed. They were the last chickens he killed.

Thank you for your kind words. I will look into a better, stronger enclosure. I'm afraid to even put any chicken back outside knowing there is a large predator around. I had a false sense of security from living in a neighborhood.
Don't know how this wyandotte flew on top of a 2 story house to escape some dogs but I stuffed her under my shirt and hid her so the dogs couldn't hurt her then carried her home with me

I'm sorry for your loss and hope your hen is better. I recommend a good covered run with regular posts (covered in 1/2" hardware cloth with an apron using the same around the bottom) You won't have to worry about anything killing them when you're gone.I only free range when I'm home plus my dogs are trained to protect them
