Before:
We bought a coop off Craigslist, it was never used, but about 2 years old

My hubby building the nestbox. We had already built a dog kennel around it and got netting for the top.

All done!
We closed the bottom in, and put linoleum on the bottom (once I get the hanging feeder and waterer I'll add pine shavings)
The top has scrape-able floor, and 2 removable roosts.

We elevated the coop off the ground. We also added more hooks and locks to the doors and nest box- we have raccoons and skunks around.

Added an overhang to the roof, secured the netting, and painted. Oh, and switched out the chicken wire for hardware cloth.

Do we need a ramp to the bottom of the coop, or will they fly in for food and water?

Thank you for all of your help this past month

question, is there a way for them to get from the bottom part to the top part inside and do you plan on putting something over the hardware cloth on the front of the coop during the winter?

Quote:
Yes, there is a ladder ramp to the top level
For the winter, I was thinking about putting plexi glass on the hardware cloth, leaving the last 5 inches or so uncovered to keep ventilation, does that sound OK?

depends on how tall your chickens are. 5 inches open may be to much if that allows the wind to blow right across the top of their combs.

Glad to hear you are covering it for those Pennsylvania winters!
