ALL ideas and advice on breeding quail i am starting out a new quail flock THANKS for advice

Get your numbers right, it will save heart ache in the near future.
Try to have good bloodlines for future breeding
More is not always better.. try to have the numbers you have the room for. People will differ, but you will know what is good and what is not.
Get food, grit, calcium before hand, and lots of it. Remember food has to be high in protein, so either add that yourself, or buy food with higher percentages.
Quails get spooked.. have a separate area, that can be kept warm, for any injured birds. Shock kills them easily.
Buy whatever medicines you can now. You might not need any at the start, but you will eventually.
Quails are waterproof, but seem to have a distinct dislike for it, so make sure their home is dry, or atleast has a completely dry area in which they can get to easily. If keeping indoors (God help you), add bulk woodchips to that list of food. Never Cedar though, it is poisonous.

I am sure others will come along with their advice, some will be different to mine, but that is the beauty of these wee critters. They are 'easy' to keep, but a journey of variety. Also, keep in mind that we are all in different parts of the world. Different environments mean different ways of husbandry.

yes i know what you mean, my motto is breeding the best and eating the rest, thanks for all advice overtime i try raising quail they all die on me
