All My Chickens Are Bloody!

Dealing with the same thing. Super cold temps and an overactive Roo is giving one of my hens a bloody comb. Tried bag balm, too cold won't stick to comb. Sprayed blu-coat it just bled off. They are in the coop for the night. I will check her in the AM, hopefully it has stopped bleeding. Good luck, you are not alone.

If all the chickens were bloody like mine, tomorrow your chickens will probably be a lot cleaner because they preen their feathers constantly. They won't stop laying, although mine slowed down because it snowed yesterday. Are you using the SPRAY blu-kote or dabbing blu-kote? The person who I get my feed from says the dabber works better. Plus, if you don't like the roo, just get rid of it like I did. I am actually quite happy that we got rid of him.SAM!

Also, don't get in a rush to separate the chicken because they won't pick on her during the night when they're sleeping. SAM

They were bloody, the feeder and waterer were bloody. Poor hen. I was going to wait to see how she is in the morning. I used the spray. She shook her head when I did it so now my hand and coat has blue spots.

is the 1 brahma the roo or one of the other ones? I just remembered tomorrow I have to clean everything up so then it doesn't look like I'm hurting my chickens. SAM

I use pine tar, they don't like the taste of it.

I wonder what the chickens think when all the hens are the same and the 1 roo is different looking and bigger? I would love to be a HAPPY chicken for a day.
