I found the solution to all of my chicks hatching out the side of the eggs! I live in a motor home and it is not exactly level. The nose of my motor home is much lower than the back end. I have my 3 incubators towards the nose. The way the eggs sit in the incubators when they are on lock down would tell the chicks that one side of the egg is the top and that would be where the air pocket is. That is very wrong and I have lost lots of chicks due to pipping into the blood vessels and drowning. So now I have turned all the eggs with the small side facing the nose of the motor home and now when they are on lock down the end that is elevated will be the correct end with the air pocket! Amazing how such a small adjustment can make a huge difference in hatching! I am looking for some Guinea eggs to buy for hatching. If you have any please contact me. [email protected]
