Almost time to seperate mom from the chicks?

I know I know it's alright. But I don't want her to get hurt or anything. It's bad enough a cat is after my flock and now two roosters going crazy.. Well yes roosters fight over hens but usually if Melvin sees one of the lower ranking roos mate he will go brutal on them and they run if they can, either that or I remove them. I don't mind Melvin mating in front of me but the other roos, no.
Are silkies good for breeding? I wanna get a hen or two my silkie roo and raise some silkies!

I have always been the brody mama it makes me so sad to hear that the mom just leaves them,,, my chickens are my babies forever..

My silkie roo has replaced the mother role.. He does great with the chicks.
Mom is hiding in the coop all day, I had to feed her seperately because her and Moochie are not getting along. Mom actually used to be on top of the pecking order, roos feared to mate with her. I guess Moochie took boss.. I wonder how long it will take for them to get along. Moochie and the mama (her name is Envy) have been together since chicks.

My chicks have been hatched by the broodies, in the coop, with the flock. When mama hen is ready she kicks them loose. By then they are already a part of the flock and there is no integration issues. They do kind of form mini-flocks. My three oldest chicks, "the chickateers" (3 mo. old cockerels) all hang out together, as do the 5 week old chicks that no longer stay with their mom. But they are all accepted by the flock because they've always been there. Now I have two sets of chicks with their moms, both sets are a week old. Again, accepted as a natural part of the flock.

ETA: My rooster watches over all the chicks. He has a vested interest in their welfare, as they are his offsping (not all biologically, but as far as he's concerned since they are mothered by his hens).
