We have 2 Swedish Cayuga ducklings about 4 weeks old, and they have apparently scratched or pecked a small hole near the bottom of our chicken pen between the wooden siding panels. Yesterday we came home and checked on them, and found one of our ducklings dead on the floor. After finding the hole, we searched and found a 5 foot rat snake coiled in the corner. Apparently the duckling was too large to eat, but it was still dead nonetheless. It was the cute one too, and they have just started developing their quack last week and the yellow patches and breast feathers were turning white. I am extremely upset because I spent a lot of time on that chicken coop and this still happened!
