also spent the eekend coop building...

WOW prices on materials varies so much.
I was lucky and my little coop was built with mostly cull lumber. I spent about 150 on it with the shingles and a small run. (Run was also built with cull lumber and is rather crooked.)

It is a lot of work making a home for the ladies but so worth it in the reward of a well cared for pets that offer such silly entertainment and breakfast.

Bummer for my situation is that the small coop will not fit through a gate so I will be scrapping it instead of selling it. I cannot take down a section of the chain link to move it out since I have shrubs and trees everywhere there is not a gate.

Dh just told me today that I can have half of the money he got from selling one of his motorcycles to get the new coop built.
( not a huge amount so I am going to stretch the daylights out of it )

Good Glory in the Morning. OK, I finished last Saturday Afternoon. I added up the hours and the $$$ 56 hours of work (not including drives to the hardware store) and $500 solid. Recycled wood was not an option, neither was "goof" paint, as I couldn't find any wood and there was no goof paint at any of the four hardware stores I had t go to to get everything. And I did not include tools that I had to get because mine died and blades for the saw.

So that's wood only and screws, paint, hardware cloth, hardware..... It looks amazing. Oh, and I found a super window at the Re-Store that just makes the whole thing! It also does NOT have it's final caulking, or paint job, and haven' put the hasp on the nest box or chicken door yet.

Would I build one again....not only NO, but &^%% NO!

Do I like the one I built? ABSOLUTELY!

Would I recommend these plans? NO WAY! ERRORS EVERYWHERE!

The girls are free range, and they aren't here yet.

Thanks for looking.
