I have heard that when shipping hatching eggs, wrapping the eggs in aluminum foil protects them if the postal service x-rays the eggs. The foil blocks out beta particles. What kinds of particles are in the x-rays the postal service uses? And is this true?

I don't know about eggs but there is a man that lives in my town that wears a pot on his head and he claims it stops aliens from picking his brain. So foil might work for eggs.

I had to Google it, because my thought would have been no, but...
"Ejected from the nucleus during beta decay, a beta particle is a fast moving electron or positron, depending on the type on beta decay involved. Beta particles can travel a few feet through air and can be stopped with a few sheets of aluminum foil."
From here .
