Hi all,

I've read through a lot of posts and looked at pictures and I'm pretty sure that four of my girls are in fact girls. But I'm still unsure about the turken. She/he was a last minute beg purchase for my son who thought the naked necks were very cool looking.

She mostly gets along, but she is the most difficult to handle. She is in a group with 3 welsummers and 1 barnevelder, all six weeks old. We've also got a pair of three week EEs (they are soooo friendly and loveable!). They have an adjacent brooder box and mix a little when I have the screen lids off. All of them get along beautifully except that the turken will occasionally go after the babies. The others are very interested and tolerant of them.

Any guesses?

Thanks!

Looks like a girl.
We have one Turken & she is the most aggressive (pushy, not mean). My daughter says she is a "beautiful princess." What do you think?

I believe you have a pullet, and Turkens can be very sweet. I have never owned a pushy or aggressive one, actually. But I did have the other pullets attack them, because of their bare necks. You might keep that in mind as they grow and if they spar at all.

I agree with Dangerous, turkens can be sweet. Our Elvira was bullied as a 4-5 week old chick. The flock pecked her up something awful. She had to be seen by a vet & had a round of antibiotics. I think that she is so pushy with people (for treats) because we spoiled her.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear she looks like a pullet

I suspect she's a little grumpy because the other girls learned to fly up and perch about two weeks earlier than she was able to manage it :hmm Luckily I haven't seen any of them pecking at her "different" feathers. They are really a sweet bunch of babies. I was just surprised at how much MORE friendly the EEs are. One of those has a habit of flying right up and onto the shoulder of anyone who walks near the brooder.
