Am I insane or do I have clever chickens??? Or Conspiracy???

I went out tonight to put our chickens in the coop. The dirt in our yard is a loose soil, and we have straw in the run also. The chickens

on a daily basis move straw and dirt in the doorway to the coop. I have a garden shovel by the door to move the dirt/straw out of the way. Tonight I went to pick up my shovel and it was gone

. I searched with the toe of my garden shoe and couldn't find it. Needless to say I had to push the dirt/straw out of the way with the bottom of my shoe. I walked all the way (200 ft) to the back door to get our garden rake to help in searching for the shovel. My goofy chickens knocked over and moved the shovel 3 ft from it's usual spot, and buried it under dirt and straw.

Now is it a conspiracy or am I just insane to believe my chickens can be smart enough to hid a shovel as a joke on me???

They are 7 months old and love it when I go in the run to visit them. They do this squat thing when I go in and wait for me to lightly scratch their backs.
And have a hay day with the hay in the coop, moving it to the middle so they can search out a place to dig under the walls. Hehe I built a floor in there so now they can't dig out.

maybe that's why they hid my shovel, to get back at me for the coop floor.

It is a conspiracy then or more of revenge maybe...

But I still love them

they are so entertaining, and give us 3 eggs a day.
