Am I safe in assuming this Barred Rock is a female? She is a replacement for my daughter's first chick, who turned out to be a beautiful rooster...



And did I luck out and find a lavender buff here? Any thoughts on gender? I can't tell you age, but feathers make me think 3 weeks+.

I would say your br is a pullet the roos are usually much lighter.

Hmmmmm. Well, the BR is about 8 weeks, I think. We just got her today from a friend of a friend.

And the other, well, I don't know what it is. I guess it's a cross, because it's got really grey feathers mixed with buff ones. I don't have a clue what it is!
