Ever since the reds were chicks I've notice their strange behavior. Not sure how to categorize it. It's like they boldly go where no chickens have gone before.
They have their beaks into everything. I can't tell you how many times my husband has chased them out of the garage where they decided that the big pots made great nesting for their eggs.

As chicks they were the first to attempt to escape the brooder the first week I had them.
Now they are the first to run out every morning and always the last to go in the run and coop.

In the attached picture this is one i call Leroy Jenkins - she's found her way to one of the bird feeders.
Please note if she jumps to the ground it's a 16 ft drop off the deck.

I have one RIR escape artist. She jumps a 6 foot fence by hopping on to a garbage can then over the stockade fence. When she is bored of the apparently tasty front yard she will squawk by the gate to be let back in the back yard. She is also the only one who escapes her run which has a 1 foot gap in the bird netting by the gate to the run. She def is smarter than the others.
