Am I the only person

This time of year it gets into the 30s at night. And of course we are all freezing, lol. In the summer months we are lucky if it gets below 80 at night.

I worry far more about the summer heat than the winter "cold". Especially with block walls being two sides of the pen, I worry about the heat they absorb and radiate so I planted a bunch of star jasmine and honeysuckle to block the sun and, hopefully, keep the pen area cooler this summer.

Ah, guess I'd better go unpack. And here I though I'd just found the perfect place to move to.

It isn't windy much... but when it is it really is....

I don't know what kind of wind you get in Indiana?

I'm in Mesa and I have my Tiki hut and a A frame thing that really is just a little roof with a laying area up top.

Do you have owls? Some friends who live in AZ say they have to be very careful to get their cats in at night cause owles get them otherwise.

The covered area protects them from that I know, not saying it doesn't, I'm just curious!

Ha ha, a tiki would be great! If yer feeling crafty you should try to make one yourself, but make it a chicken tiki!

I have heard owls around on very rare occasion... but the pen is entirely enclosed with either chicken wire or shade cloth so I doubt it would be a problem.

i have 1 "coop" for my regular birds,, and the rest are in pens with dog crates as coops lol,, i figure their easy to keep warm by body heat then a big ole coop,,,, that,, and im building better coops this winter,, i wasnt expecting this many adult birds lol

are you guys trying to drive the people battling the snow and ice crazy?????

Of course I can say that because I am in florida! I do have a coop but only because I have coopers hawks like seagulls down here, raccoons that walk around in the daytime there are so many; snakes that wave to you on their way by(?), no frost to kill anything, etc.....
