My duck (who has been trying to set since before we moved in June) finally hatched out her first baby! The baby is actually a chicken but, shhhh....don't tell Senator that. I know that the dad is an Ameraucana, but I'm not sure who the "birth mother" is....the most likely breed is Silver Laced Wyandotte as we have 5, but the other possibilities are Barred Rock, Partridge Rock, or New Hampshire Red.

The baby is dark with chipmunk stripes, a light yellow/silver face, fluffy cheeks, and bright orange feet. I'm not sure about the comb yet, but I think it is either single or a rosecomb.

Here is the dad. I say "Ameraucana", but he came from Murray McMurray as our free chick and they call them "Araucana/Americana". He is usually much better looking, but he's been losing his tail feathers recently. He is also very mean and sneaky.

I also got some more pictures of baby.

Chipmunk is totally typical for an Easter Egger which is what yours is. You'll likely never figure out who the mom is. (Dad is an EE as well so your cute little chipmunk is second generation EE - at least.)

Update: 2 weeks later the chick was joined by one baby duck. Disappointing hatch rate, but they sure are cute! I'm really hoping they're both girls.
