Another sick chicken...? My year old Ameraucana hen was fine this morning. Hungry, cheerful, and alert as usual. She is shy and flighty so you can't lay a hand on her usually. But this afternoon, I found her in the coop standing with her wings down and eyes halfway closed. Normally I would think overheated, but she wasn't panting and she didn't feel hot or perk up after she was in the AC for a while. I brought her in the house and put her on some newspaper with food and water. She hasn't moved (although she can stand & walk) and she tries to get away when we walk near her. Her stool is just water. I don't think she's egg bound because she laid an egg this morning. She seems to be missing some feathers, but that is probably the rooster. He will chase her sometimes, but he is calm and gentle as roosters go and she is usually quick to get away. Did something grab her? No marks on her body except for a few feathers gone.... Her crop is empty besides water and I tried offering her more. She didn't want any so I held the cup up to her mouth. She seemed interested at first and vigorously took a sip but nothing after that. What is going on? Please help!
