I have 9 hens that are 7 months 3 of them are Ameraucanas, all girls are laying except one of the Ameraucanas, she layers one time a month ago but not since. I have never had this happen. What’s happening I want her to lay.
Giving them scratch & egg layer
Please advise, thanks

Your individual chicken may be going into the winter off period. (I am assuming you live in the northern hemisphere, no location in your profile) Shorter days are the main reason. All my chicken are currently on strike. No eggs for a while now. Half or more are also molting. Your 7 month should not be molting though.
Each chicken has their own personality, and physical abilities as well.
If that particular chicken eats more scratch than the other hens, she is getting less protein in her diet, VS the others. Try increasing the protein amount by offering small amounts of cat food, (as a trial) Cat food will not harm your chickens. View my Avatar. My chickens raid the cat food daily, and live LOOOOOONG lives as pets.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Just curious are you feeding wet or dry cat food? Also, is that considered a treat or part of their main diet?
I don't feed it to them, the chickens steal what they can, if there is some left. I have feral rescue cats that live outdoors. (they are all fixed BTW,) I provide food for them. In the afternoon I release my chickens from their run area to free-range in my back yard. It is then that they always see if there is anything left in the cat's dishes. I feed my cats dry Meow Mix. They ask for it by name :gig (am sure you heard that line on Meow Commercials:idunno)
So I guess it would be considered a treat. Squirrels also raid the cat food dishes as well. I only keep food there during the day. In evening, all dishes are removed.

Meow mix, is 30% protein, so don't think them having a little as a treat occasionally would hurt. The fat content is pretty low compared to sunflower seeds or mealworms. Though you never know what other additives there are, any cat food with dye in it can be very hard on the chicken liver, (it can also be hard on the cats liver too be honest). But really don't think the cat food is why your chicken hasnt started laying yet.

Are you sure it was her that laid an egg a month ago? Years ago I had this happen with a mixed marans/easter egger cross, She laid once every two months basically, she lived until she was 6 years old and she ran off into the forest never to be seen again. I have other uses for chickens than just eggs and meat, I use their poo in a variety of things, including mushroom growing, and fish food at the time. So as long as she was pooping she had a use for me!

I will say though, it was always annoying to lose an amazing hen with great eggs and good production and to have her toddle home instead 😅
