This morning my DH set up my new Hova Bator just in time for 12 of Peafowl's GORGEOUS blue Ameracauna eggs and some blue and lavender Orpington eggs from DutchChick that both arrived today. I'm so excited that HE is excited! This is a first! Anyone else hatching around the 29th?

Some of them were meant for my broody blue Ameraucana, but she seems like she's "snapping out of it".

I set 28 eggs on Sunday night, so mine are set to hatch on July 25, close to yours. this is my second hatch, first time was WAY smaller, only 6 eggs. 10 eggs are EE/Buckeye mix and the other 18 are brown, various hens (see my sig for all types) and our buckeye rooster.

good luck with your first hatch! what type of hovabator do you have?mine is a 1602N.

I have eight runner ducks I put in on the 2nd of July. They should hatch around the 29th. I candled them today and they all looked good.

Mine is a 2362N, but I wouldn't know the difference LOL. I've hatched two eggs previously under broody hens: my bantam RIR hatched a cochin bantam (roo) that carries the frizzle gene 4/28 and my black Ameraucana hatched a blue silky (also carries the frizzle gene) on 6/25. The Ameraucana and that tiny chick look a little mismatched, but cute as all get out.

Good luck with your hatch! What was in your first? I'm going to look at your signature line now to see what you have!

I don't know a thing about ducks, although I sure was tempted when TSC had them in April. I guess the incubation period is longer than with chicks? Good luck, and I'll be anxious to see pictures! When you candled at this stage, what did it look like?

the first hatch had just 6 EE/Buckeye babies but boy they did they turn out pretty--not that I'm biased!
