Ameraucana with bent toe

I have an Ameraucana with a bent toe and now her toe nail is growing into her leg. What is the best way to prevent any damage to her leg?

Just trim the toe nail like you would with a dog. Just have some quick stop or flour, or something to stop any bleeding if you cut too close.
