Meet Elsa. I'm hoping she is a pullet. Her tail is growing in more downward than my buffs and my silver wyodette...but she is a different kind of chicken. Too soon to tell?

I have one that looks just like her, named Betty! Looks like a hen to me! I would say she is Ameraucana, because that is what I was told mine were, but when I started trying to figure out the difference between Ameraucana, Easter Egger, Americana...etc....I got really confused!

EE pullet.
Easter eggers are generally considered mutts. They are ameraucana decendents. Ameraucanas have strict standards, meaning they come in only certain colors and have to have slate legs and only lay blue eggs. They are a very difficult breed to find as you can only get them from reputable breeders. Pretty much all hatchery breeds labeled Ameraucana, Americana, Araucanas are Easter eggers. Any bird that carries a copy of the blue egg gene is considered an EE, even actual ameraucanas that don't meet the standards. EEs come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. She may also lay one of the follow colors of eggs: blue/green, pink, white, brown, or various shades of these colors; hence the name Easter eggers.
