Due to a mix up at my vet's office (he incubates my eggs for me) What is a sure fire way to tell the difference between golden chicks and lady amherst chicks. I do not want to mix these species together by accident. I thought it was the leg color but they all seem to have the same leg color. Thanks for the help.

the young amherst chicks will be overall darker than the goldens chicks, but certaintly by the time they start feathering out good you should be able to see a noted difference between them with their patterns, also check against the hens pattern to be sure, you can also look at the face around a month and ahalf to two months old the amherst will start to get a little blue around the eyes wile goldens are more yellow
hope this helps
