Amoxicillin dosage

I have 250mg capsules of fish mix to try and treat an abdominal infection in my hen. How do I give her the capsule? Do I need to dissolve the contents of the capsule in water?

I would put a capsule in something like a small dab of liverwurst, cream cheese or pate canned cat food, mix it well, and give her half of that twice a day. The usual dose for chickens is 125 mg twice a day.
