I have a beautiful Barnervelder Rooster. Unfortunately he has started attacking me quite viciously, and also my Daughter, who is 12. I need to do something about this behaviour. Can anyone help???

If you will ask this question in the behavior forum you will get some very good info. You can also search rooster behavior and read old posts with good info. It boils down to letting the Roo know who is boss.

I don't know what snaps in that little brain of theirs to make them behave in such an ugly manner, but you need to really watch your back. Most people will tell you freezer camp (culling) is the only answer, but if you really like him and would be willing to spend the time to try and turn his attitude around, here's a great link about rooster behavior and how to calm those nasty fellows back down.

all kidding aside I cull any aggressive bird and will not hatch eggs from them. A lot of places are making in roads toward raising poultry . I rooster putting an eye out of a two year old would make national news and could put the brakes on urban chickens. then again I'm an old farmboy and my chickens are here to produce food

Sometimes you can change them, but most of the time you can't. If bad behavior begins before they are mature, say before 14 weeks old, you may be able to fix it, since at that time, it's more testing of boundaries than actual aggression. Once the hormones begin raging, it's harder to stop bad behavior. Honestly, I truly believe that the more intelligent roosters are the ones who realize who brings the food, water and treats and they are the non-human-aggressive ones. You can make him afraid of you, but that sometimes just means he will be more careful about how he attacks and become sneakier.
