Recently I've had a hen just dropping eggs wherever she happens to be at the time. Without a nestbox or any attempt at making a nest.
Mostly I'm finding them under the roosts first thing in the morning, but she's also dropping them on pathways around the house. No attempt at hiding them, etc. It's like they are just falling out while she goes about her chicken business.
Any imput??

That's a little weared, it happend with one of my hens twice or three times before especially while she was roosting and days were very cold and short light.
I think the only thing you can do is lock her byherself in a small coop with a nest box inside it, and see if she get back to normal.

good Luck.

Is it possible she's getting harassed by another chicken(s) and losing the eggs when scared/fleeing?

Or is it possible that she doesn't want to use your existing nestboxes for some reason (something's making it hard for her to hop up, or other chicken(s) are keeping her away from them), and might benefit from a separate nestbox like a tupperware container somewhere?

otherwise I dunno. I've had it happen for a week or so at a time, from reason #1 above, but dunno beyond that.

Good luck,

Pat

Pat, I've considered the same thing since I believe it's Lilith that's doing it and she is the lowest in the pecking order. The egg I found this morning was under her section of roost; or at least where she was at bedtime last night. However, I did see her on the nestbox once yesterday. It is possible she's being run out of the box before she can finish. That's happened before.
