(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’ve had poultry (chickens and quail) for a few months now, but this is my first year with them
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have six chickens and nine quail, with three more chickens on the way!
(3) What breeds do you have?
All the chickens are mixed breeds, the quail are Coturnix.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love their personalities and as someone with anxiety, they are really soothing to be around!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I also ride horses
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I currently live with my family (since at the moment I’m a broke and unemployed college student ahaha) and I’m so glad they enjoy animals as much as I do! I go to an agricultural school and I own a pair of sheep as a wool project. I live in one of the more rural areas of Los Angeles but unfortunately our property isn’t big enough to keep the sheep here so they live on campus.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A lot of questions I’ve had about chickens or quail can be answered here so after months of looking without joining I decided to take the leap!
