I just spend several days with a daughter on her Oklahoma farm, just talking to the chickens and watching them go about their daily business. It made me very nostalgic for my "Mother Earth" period 40 plus years ago, when my kids were toddlers on our 1.5 acre farmlet and we had chickens, waterfowl, rabbits, pigs, and a cow (my bovine therapist). I'm giving serious thought to having half a dozen hens in the near future, and want to update everything I already know about chickens...or should I say what I remember about chickens, since my memory is a lot shorter than it was 40 years ago! So here I am, the place my daughter says she find the answers to all her chicken questions.

My dad had a lifetime subscription to Mother Earth, back in the '70s (don't know if that was real thing, but I know he got the magazine for decades). One thing I do know -- you have a smart daughter!

Welcome to BYC and good luck on your "refresher course" on raising chickens!
