ancient chicken mosaic found!

How cool! The report says"A detail of a mosaic in the archaeological site where an ancient church was found in Hirbet Madras, central Israel, Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011. Israeli archaeologists say they have uncovered a 1,500-year-old church, including an unusually well-preserved mosaic floor with images of lions, foxes, fish and peacocks."


They show a Rooster, and if you look at the other slides you can see it on the floor! I think it is pretty.

The link worked for me. I saw that article last week and it was really interesting. The funniest part is it mentions a peacock, but if you look at the picture with the entire floor, there is no peacock, just the rooster. SO it makes me wonder if the reporter is a city kid who just doesn't know the difference or what?!?!

St. Mark's in Venice, Italy (started in 828 AD) has a gorgeous floor mosaic of two peacocks.
