So I aquired my first two chickens when I started feeding two strays. Its been a learning experience. I started with boiled corn and wild bird seed until I got to the feed store and asked what chickens eat. They still get a small bit of fresh corn off the cob every morning and night along with their feed and scratch as do my four baby banties. My problem is ( if you can call it a problem) word has gotten out through the neighborhood that a free warm meal can be had at my house and any bird that pecks on my door, be they wild or domestic is welcome. So now I have two gigantic Guinea fowl, a mated pair as evidenced by their carrying ons, and I don't know a thing about Guinea's. They seem to like hot dogs, but I realize that is really salty for them, they like the chicken feed and a scoop of wild bird seed on top. My baby chicks like shredded lunch meat on their morning corn with meal worms sprinkled on top. They are growing steadily, don't seem to be obese, and most importantly they are happy, But my concern is with the guineas, they are big, have big appetites and are expecting me to fix it. They stand outside my patio door and make the most god awful squawking noise until I come out and give them a treat. What is it they are missing? What do they need or am I just being a sucker?
