so unfortunately mantis has angel wing on both wings!! i think it mightve been genetics since her two brothers that have been on the same food etc dont have it.. either way, i wanna fix it! i found a very loose sock and cut it short enough to only cover her wings. pictures below

mantis is a 7 week old (and 2 days) black east indie btw!
im posting this since i have a few questions. when i put it on her, she walked normally but did wobble a bit to the side but her breathing was okay and she was peeping and following me as normal. im thinking she reacted that way given its new and probably uncomfortable at first but please let me know if thats okay!! i dont want to accidentally harm her.
second question, how long do i leave it on? my plan was, 1-3 hours the first few days and then eventually leave it on all day, only take it off when she swims and take it off at night. i want to get her wings corrected before she goes outside permanently with the others as i dont want them to pick on her. fortunately her brothers shes with right now dont pick or bite them!

oh her "brothers" arent her blood brothers lol!!

okay thank you sm!! ^_^
I would not take the sock off at night. Leave it on and check after 5 days. At this stage, angel wing corrects quickly. It can take longer with older ducklings

Your sock is great!

The high protein diet cause of angel wing is a duck keepers' old wives tail. There is no evidence for that. The evidence we have is that a poor diet, high in carbohydrates, is a major cause. Ducks on public water ways and in public parks that are fed bread have a much higher rate of angel wing than backyard ducks on a good diet. Starter crumbles with 22% protein are fine,

As you noted, there is also an underlying genetic susceptibility,.

Good luck. Your little fluffie will do well in only a few days
