Angel Wing Questions

Quote:
I feed mine the leafiest alfalfa I can find. 18 geese get a flake of hay every other night or so. They don't get any other food in their pen at night and they eat the hay in the morning while waiting for me to wake up and come out and let them out of the pen. You can also feed yours rabbit pellets which is compressed alfalfa hay...I also feed mine those. Whole wheat is good, crimped oats is good. Then I feed a start to finish poultry food with all of that. Their bowl mix is 1/4 start to finish, 1/4 oats, 1/4 rabbit pellets, 1/4 whole wheat. Then they get the alfalfa on the side and whatever they can forage.

It's disappointing that I can never find those foods in bulk... Always in tiny amounts that end up costing so much money and not lasting more than a few days. But I might take a look at the feed store. They may carry rabbit pellets and horse feed.

Thank you Windchyme and others for Angel wing info- esp. the LongshadowFarms photo! One of our four Roman Tufted six week old babies has one wing sticking out so we followed directions and it went great. They are so tame and trusting, just taped with the 1" medical waterproof - he just sat there and then walked away like nothing happened. Have not bothered the area at all. We have handled them a lot so they are having a ball in their pool with watermelon treats to cool off in this hot weather.

Oh not a problem. It IS wicked hot today. Usually I only do the pool at most once a day but today they were so miserable I went out at lunch and gave them fresh cool bathing water...my poor babies.

I'm aware this is a slightly older thread, but I waded through several angel wing posts and this is the one that I landed on that most helped me in solving my own little angel wing issue, and I wanted to thank the participants . . . Thank you!
