Today I thought Eggsmerelda was finished being broody. She didn't need to be physically brought out when i opened the coop. 3 hours later as I'm leaving for work I noticed she was back at it. I removed her, locked everyone out yet again, apologised to the 2 layers, and drove off.
When I got home my son in law tells me the BOs were laying angry birds. He was watching from up on the second story deck. The Bachelor pad coop faces the original coop. The original coop has the upper screen door open for extra ventilation. He watched as Nugget attempted first to climb the hardware cloth covered run of the bachelor pad (aka guest house) to get to the roof. When that didn't work she went around to the back and figured out she could get there by first jumping onto the protruding nest box, then jump to the roof. She then walked to the edge of the roof facing the original coop screen door and BLAM! Propelled herself face first into the hardware cloth screen to try to get inside!! He hollered for his wife, my daughter, to come see this. Yup. She did it again before he could get to the run! He opened it and let her sit locked inside for a bit. When he checked again she came back out calmly, no egg left behind.
And Eggsmerelda? She was cheering Nugget on!
Son in law Chris says they were playing angry birds!) He just wished he'd had his cell to record it!

Today Eggsmerelda was up and out quickly on her own. I think she's done being broody. :fl
Why couldn't she have gone broody BEFORE I got pullets and put them in the dog cage/pullet introducer/broody breaker!!!? She could have hatched me some babies!
