I couldn't resist and purchased 8, 2 weekish old chicks from RK for $1 each. Of course all supposed to be pullets, but we know how that goes. I am hoping for no more than 2 cockerels. I'm supposed to have 2- RIR, 2- Cinnamon Queen, 2 Barred Rock & 2 Black Sex Link/Black Star. I think one of the Cinnamon Queens may be a RIR. I do not remember a white spot on the head of the BSL (only on the BR). I'm wondering if a RIR is a cockerel and if it's possible one BSL is. Thanks for the help. chicks 1b 7wks.jpg

Thanks. I thought the BSL were pullets but when I realized, (2-3 weeks ago) that I was sure the RIR was cockerel...I doubted the others. I'm ok with one and hope no other males turn up.

Those are about 7+ weeks. And then Tuesday, these 7. I have no idea what they are and all are from mixed marriages. :) Our friend lent us her bantam silkie and gave us 8 eggs. The only egg that did not hatch, was the silkie egg. Time will tell how many males. There can be only 1 in the coop that all will eventually go into. Not sure what the yellow one is, 3 black w/little white on chests. As they grow, our friend will help possibly identify some family genes. Thanks for your help! IMG_20240704_090147189[1].jpg
