Another Electric Fence Question

I already zapped myself. That is not happening on purpose again. Can't say it won't happen on accident.

What I'm reading leads to an insulator, but I've checked all of them--there are only about a dozen, everything is fine.

The fence is still hot with that light on or off. Now that I have saw it go back to blinking, I'm more confused.

... When I turned the on switch on, the light that usually comes on(fence ok light) was very weak.the charger is covered and no rain can get to it. I turned it off, went back out after the downpour and the light isn't even on at all... Why is the light on the charger not working? Do I have to worry about this over night? I checked all the sites snd everything is in place. There are two fuses, could that be it....

The quickest way to check an electric fence is to touch that sucker with the back of you hand. Use the back of you hand and not the palm because you may have a muscle reaction if you get bit by the fence on the first go around and your fingers involuntary close around the wire which will reward you with a second shock.

Learn the difference between the normal opperating closing of the current sound and the snap, crackle, and pop of a short. In the dark of night is a good time to do an inspection of your electric fence because a short is usually accompanied by a quick blue tongue of flaming electricity jumping from the hot wire to a ground. That also makes finding the location of the short easy.
