Hi! I’m new to backyard chickens. I’ve been reading about telling gender within the first week based on the feathers. So asking the pros, chick on the left is a hen and chick on right a roo? Or is it way too soon to tell? Thanks in advance for any help!

I'll go with the opposite.

Depends on the breed I think, my pekins do seem to feather slow if they are males, what breed are your chicks?

maybe I should ask the breeder I got the eggs from if he did that because ppl seem to have a lot of different opinions on it

What breed are they? If they are an autosexing breed like a creme legbar, you would nearly 100% have a female on the right. But it depends if they are a specific breed. If they are mixes or you don't know, it's anyone's guess at this age 😊

They’re Easter eggers!
