I already built a 4x8 coop for my silkies with an attached run.

Now since I somehow picked up 12 more full size birds I need another coop. I have been picking up pallets and found a guy on Craig's list that was giving away an tree fort/house (basically the lumber) Big score.
So last night I put together the base with the wood and somehow I had 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood laying around for the floor. This will be a 8x6 coop. Here is the base

Today i put together the front and back wall. The front will have the chicken door and hopefully I will find some windows, the back will have two 2 foot doors for cleaning.

I am working on the sides now. Each side will have 3 outside nest boxes. I plan to run the roost ladders from above the nest boxes down to the floor.

I am building in the garage hoping to remove the walls and move when weather is better. I still need to cut holes in the floor for the 4x6 post that will keep it off the ground and then run up to the roof.

I keep looking for siding options that are cheap but I think I will side with pallet wood to be cheap.

I will also be building a 4 panel hoop run in front of this.

I will post more pics as I get them

Thanks
Ed
Off to order my hardware cloth. Cha Ching

Got a lot more done this weekend. Built nest boxes and covered with scrap t1-11 siding I picked up for free. Cut roof rafters. Now I need to build the chicken door and the clean out door
I need to cut up the pallets for the siding and so far all of the material is free

A little more progress. Found some free windows on Craig's list

I still need to make the rear doors and then disassemble and move and then finish the siding

Well had some free time and the day off on Friday so I made the move. I disassembled my coop that was built in the garage and with the help of my father we moved it to its final spot. Not the easiest, try leveling a platform in a hill. So here it is.

Now I need to finish putting up the siding and then work on the run. So far still all free stuff.
I think the only money will be towards corrugated roofing, cattle panels, hardware cloth and maybe some PT 2x4's.

Thanks
Ed

Well finally got the coop done. Today I finished the roosts and put locks on the main door. We moved the girls in a few hours ago
