Hi all,

I am new also. I had chickens as a child and in high school but gave em' to my granny when I went to college. She fell in love with them, they followed her around the yard and garden like little puppies, and I didn't have the heart to ask for them back when I graduated.

I have always wanted to get more so when my 8 year old said he wanted some, that was all the excuse I needed. My chicken hilton is almost built. It will be two 8 x 10 covered runs connected in the middle by a 5 x 8 enclosed room. We currently have silkies and seramas. 4 of the silkies are two months old, 2 more silkies and 7 serama chicks are one month old, and two more silkies are about a week old. We have black, splash, white, and gray (I guess that is 'blue') silkies. We had a few partridge and buff silkie chicks and a couple extra seramas, but I gave them to our neighbors little boy. We had our first real crow this morning after several morning of what sounded like one was being strangled. My son says he wants to show them, but I don't know if we are anywhere near that stage yet.

I am about 30 minutes east of Atlanta in Oxford.
