Hello to all of you! I am chinamom3, from Tennessee. I have had 4 hens (barred rock, RIR, black sex linked, and EE) that were sadly killed by a neighbors dogs. Now that the fences have been mended (literally and figuratively!) I am looking to get 3 or more hens. We live in the midst of an urban area with a mix of neighbors - some were so charmed by my birds that they now have their own small flock, and some are less than tolerant of well, anything.
I have very much appreciated the "coop" section, and will be trying to modify an old playhouse into a new coop. I am trying to find a marans, a SLW, a light brahma and either a buff orp or similar. DH of 25 years and I have 3 kids (guess where they are from!), a maine coon cat, a mongrel cat, a clumber spaniel, and 3 kids - 12 , 9, and 7. Thanks so much to all of you who have posted advice, pictures, and encouragement - I have begun reading through the different forums and have learned so much already!
