Hi, this i my first post. I don't have any chickens at the moment, but we hope to move to Cornwall in the not too distant future and OH has agreed that we should have some once sttled in. I am hoping to learn loads before we get our own chooks and can't think of a better way than to listen in on your Forum. Hope I don't drive you mad with lots of daft questions.

OK you asked for it.....
Can I keep just one Bantam with the 5 or 6 chickens that I am planning to start with,or would 2 be better? Don't want the little mite to be bullied.
Also, I have read that Bantums can get broody and I don't plan to breed, so would I be better off with a breed of chicken not known for its broodiness instead?

from Wisconsin. I only have "big birds" no experience with bantams. But I would think it would be OK if they are about the same ages. As far as broody is conerned, I thought that depends also on the breed....Check out Hendersons breed chart. It has info on breeds that come standard and banty size as well as only bantam size. It gives you general info on hardiness, broody vs nonsetter, egg size/color/aaverage amount etc. Hopethat helps plus I am sure youll get info from other folks here....You may also want to post questions in more specific sections to get answers!!! Glad you joined
