Hello all, I'm Debbi. I've been checking out this site for awhile now, and decided to take the plunge. It's been quite a few years since I last had chickens, about 20 to be exact. So many new breeds I never knew about, it's mind blowing!! While I had chickens, it was just on a free range, casual farm basis. Mixed breeds, but all were their own little personalities. Now that the kids are gone, and I am retired, I thought I would try some chickens again. This time, I would love to be able to hatch my own, and dabble in breed improvement within my own flock. I am interested in dual purpose chickens, and have always been fond of the Barred Rocks, and am now also leaning towards the Marans; either Black Copper, Cuckoo, or Golden Cuckoo. Then there are the bantams! I love the Mille Fluers. Never had any of these breeds, but am looking forward to learning all I can here so I can start my set up. I've got a large shed I plan to convert to a coop, and a quiet new room to set up my incubator. I am totally impressed with some of the incubator designs I have seen you guys and gals come up with!! Anyway, that's me in a nut shell. I know I'll learn a lot of great things here. Thanks for having me.
