Hello - I was in such a hurry to post our available Rhode Island Red Roosters, I am introducing myself afterwards. We had 6 chickens during COVID, and eventually lost them to illness, and the last one to a predator (cat) after we let them free range. But we've just started again with a whole new batch. They eat a lot! I need to study some of your food/treats advice. And we won't let them free-range this time, unfortunately.

Hi! It's great to meet you! I am sorry for your losses.
But also so happy for your new start!
Welcome to BYC!!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

Sorry about your former chickens. I rarely hear of a cat killing an adult chicken unless it was a bobcat or feral so that bites!

We cut down on feed by fermenting it. That fills them up and is higher in nutrients than straight plus loaded with probiotics/prebiotics. In summer I was only doing it about once a week as they free-range but now that it snowed I do it daily.
