Hi all!!

We've got another breed we bought from TS that apparenly were not labeled properly because they were suppose to be RIRs! Any idea what they are? Someone told me they look like Gold Stars? What do ya'll BYC members think??

thanks!

These were taken at 3 days old, (ignore the black one)...we bought 6, 3 were solid yellow and 3 had the gold striping...

view from the top... the red & white ones...(the others are my buffs)...some of them have more red or white than others...

(again, the two red/white ones)...feet are gold...

better pic of coloring...

So...what say you???

thanks a bunch!!

Yes, those are called Gold Stars sometimes or Red Sexlinks or Cinnamon Queens and about 3 other names. lol Very good layers.

sexlinks!!

isn't that a cross?? You can't breed sexlinks and get the same coloring, right? They look like they are all hens, for eggs, at least TS got that right!!

You are very correct. They are the result of a one-time cross between two purebred parents. This cross produces chicks that can have their gender determined by color (females are born with caramel racing stripes on the back, males are born whiteish yellow).

Because they are a one time cross, if you breed a female and male sexlink, you will not get chicks that also have their color linked to gender. You'll just get a hodgepodge of yellows, reds, and whites in the next generations.

Hmmmm.....I guess I could just throw them in with my mixed birds, huh?? Shouldn't matter which roo covers them cuz their just gonna make a bunch of mixed up birds anyway!
